ChessBase 17
The engine window in Cbase17 has a settings icon to the right of the Buddy (dog) icon. If you click on it, it has various options.
I can't SEE what this feature does. Is it supposed to write the notations to the game notation window or the engine window?
I have Cbase17 on two computers and this feature doesn't seem to do anything.
Can anyone confirm this or otherwise tell me how I can see the result of changing the settings.
I can see the engine output and the engine annotations just fine in the engine window.

The red and yellow cogs is what I'm referring to. The mouseover bubble describes the icon as "Auto Annotate Highlights."

"Auto Analysis (Sacs)" Is what it says for me.

Re: ChessBase 17
Are you in the Fritz or chessbase GUI?
I am in chessBase. In any event, does this button have functionality for you? What are some options it offers?

Re: ChessBase 17
I was able to figure out how the feature works. First off, the "max move for highlight" option is the number of plies to add as an annotation.
The feature works only when
1) When you add a brand new move (start a new variation) to your existing pgn notation. (entered via mouse or space bar)
2) OR, You are at the end of a line and add a move.
In both cases, the feature works if the move you add is
a) the engine's recommended move; and
b) it's annotated in the ENGINE window.
